Eligibility
Outside the Lines is a peer run, volunteer driven arts-and-enterprise visual arts program open to local and national adult artists with disabilities. Accepted artists have the option of showcasing their work for sale in and around the Central Virginia region several times a year and participating in arts workshops and other program opportunities geared toward pursuing a career in the arts as an artist or an arts enthusiast with a disability.
Outside the Lines also works with other local and regional organizations and agencies to exhibit works from their arts programs as well to provide exhibition opportunities for their artists. Preference will be given to submissions from artists in VSAVA local, regional and statewide districts but please do not feel limited by this. The criteria for selection is broad and open to any artist with a disability however we are currently and regrettably unable to accept submissions for exhibitions from outside the United States and Canada due to time and resource restraints.
Who is Eligible?
We accept work from artists nationwide to promote an inclusive global arts community and to help dissipate the isolation and loneliness that sometimes exist for adult artists with disabilities. We are also focused on developing ways in which to disseminate information and share resources via the Internet that greatly reduce initial costs for artists living outside of the Richmond area who wish to be a part of Outside the Lines as well as reducing program costs.
The issues and conditions listed below are not meant to be exhaustive. It is compiled by the director to help artists, agencies, and organizations determine whether they are eligible to participate in the Outside the Lines exhibition program. If you have questions about your specific circumstance, please don’t hesitate to e-mail or contact Krishanna at kspencer@vsava.org or 804.230.0246.
