Outside-the-Lines

About

Outside the Lines is a peer run, volunteer driven, inclusive arts entreprenuerial program open to local, regional and national artists of merit, with and without disabilities, to showcase their work for sale in and around the Central Virginia region and participate in arts workshops and other cultural events. Sponsored in part by VSA arts of Virginia, exhibition and program opportunities are open to any adult with a disability and/or limited access to visual arts.

Accepted artists learn the basics of how to professionally present their art for consideration in juried and curated art exhibitions, are provided with professional feedback about their work and are offered free or low cost, high quality workshops and exhibition opportunities geared toward pursuing a career in the arts.

In 2007, Outside the Lines was officially named and opened it’s quarterly calls for art to national artists. The program will curate a group show and will exhibit the works of 16 artists from all over the USA and maintains an online gallery with works for sale, an online discussion group and blog to help ease the isolation artists with disabilities sometimes experience while encouraging a more global community for artists with disabilities and others with limited access to the arts.
